Shakira unveils official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem “Dai Dai”

Shakira is officially returning to the FIFA World Cup stage once again. The global pop superstar has unveiled “Dai Dai” as the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking her fourth major connection with football’s biggest tournament after the massive success of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010 and “La La La (Brazil 2014)” during the Brazil World Cup.\

The 49-year-old singer teased the upcoming track through a cinematic Instagram video filmed inside Maracanã Stadium, one of football’s most iconic venues. The teaser quickly went viral across social media, with fans praising the energetic beat, vibrant visuals, and emotional stadium atmosphere connected to the sport.

“Dai Dai,” which officially releases on May 14, also features Burna Boy, adding an Afro-fusion sound to the anthem. Early reactions online suggest the collaboration blends Latin pop, African rhythms, and stadium-style production designed specifically for global football audiences.

Shakira’s history with the World Cup has become legendary over the past two decades. Her 2010 anthem “Waka Waka” became one of the most successful World Cup songs ever made, generating billions of streams and becoming deeply associated with football culture worldwide. She later performed “La La La (Brazil 2014)” at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro and also appeared during the 2006 World Cup festivities in Germany with her hit “Hips Don’t Lie.”

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be historic for several reasons. It will be jointly hosted by United States, Mexico, and Canada, becoming the first tournament hosted by three nations. It will also feature an expanded 48-team format for the first time in FIFA history. The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Shakira’s home country, Colombia, has qualified for the competition, adding even more excitement for her fanbase. The singer, who shares two sons with former Gerard Piqué, remains one of the most recognizable global artists connected to football culture. Fans are now waiting to see whether Shakira will also headline part of the opening ceremony or perform “Dai Dai” live during the tournament next summer.
