Gen Z reclaims focus and balance through digital minimalism
Google has officially announced that Google I/O 2026 will take place from May 19 to May 20, with the event returning to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, while also streaming online for global audiences. The company said this year’s developer conference will showcase its “latest AI breakthroughs and updates in products across the company,” highlighting advancements from Gemini to Android and other core platforms.
As in previous years, the two-day event will include keynote presentations from company leaders, product demonstrations, and fireside chats. Google plans to open the conference with a keynote address on the morning of May 19. While the full session schedule has not yet been released, attendees can already explore a “save the date” interactive experience on Google’s website featuring minigames built using Gemini AI.
AI is expected to dominate this year’s announcements. At last year’s I/O, Google introduced several major AI initiatives, including expanded AI Mode capabilities for Google Search and the debut of its AI-powered filmmaking app, Flow. For 2026, the company is anticipated to further expand Gemini’s capabilities and roll out new AI-driven features across its ecosystem, including Search, Chrome, Workspace applications, and Pixel devices. More details about speakers, sessions, and product launches are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
