Pellizzari triumphs on Stage 17 as Vingegaard extends Vuelta lead

Italy’s Giulio Pellizzari powered to victory on stage 17 of the Vuelta a España, conquering the Alto de El Morredero climb ahead of Britain’s Tom Pidcock and teammate Jai Hindley. Defending champion Jonas Vingegaard finished fourth, extending his general classification lead to 50 seconds over Portugal’s Joao Almeida, with Pidcock climbing into third overall. Stage 17 came amid continued safety concerns following repeated disruptions from pro-Palestine protests earlier in the race. Organizers confirmed Thursday’s time trial in Valladolid will be shortened to 12.2km for “greater protection.”

The Vuelta concludes Sunday in Madrid.
