Eurovision 2025: A Wild Ride, But Did We Get It Right?

Eurovision 2025 in Basel served up all the glitter, drama, and questionable fashion we've come to expect!

Okay, fam, Eurovision 2025 just wrapped, and can we talk about it?! Basel, Switzerland, totally delivered on the spectacle, and the stage was absolutely stunning. There were so many bops and some seriously questionable choices, which, honestly, is peak Eurovision. I had my snacks ready and was fully invested, as always. Here's my hot take on some of the standouts (and some that left me scratching my head):

Austria

Song: "Wasted Love" by JJ Our hosts, Austria, brought it home with JJ's "Wasted Love." This song was pure pop perfection, with a killer melody and a performance that just radiated good vibes. JJ's vocals were on point, and the staging was simple but effective, letting the song shine. Totally deserved the win, in my opinion! It felt fresh but also classic Eurovision in the best way.

Netherlands

Song: "C'est La Vie" by Claude Hands down, the Netherlands' entry, "C'est La Vie" by Claude, was everything. I'm still listening to this one on repeat. The energy was electric, the French and English blend was seamless, and Claude just had this undeniable charisma. The staging was so dynamic and cool, making it feel like a mini-concert. Honestly, I thought this was a serious contender for the win, and it absolutely blew me away. Big fan!

Ukraine

Song: "Bird of Pray" by Ziferblat Ukraine always brings something interesting, and Ziferblat's "Bird of Pray" was no exception. It had a really unique vibe, a bit dark and artistic, which definitely stood out. The vocals were powerful, and the visual storytelling on stage was super compelling. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but you couldn't deny the artistry.

Sweden

Song: "Bara Bada Bastu" by KAJ Sweden, the Eurovision powerhouse, came with "Bara Bada Bastu" by KAJ. This one was catchy and had that signature Swedish pop polish. It was fun, upbeat, and definitely a crowd-pleaser. While it might not have been the most original sound, it was undeniably well-produced and delivered, exactly what you expect from Sweden.

Finland

Song: "ICH KOMME" by Erika Vikman Finland always delivers something iconic, and Erika Vikman's "ICH KOMME" was hilariously camp and amazing. The song itself was a bop, and the performance was pure theatrical brilliance. Erika owned the stage, and it was just so much fun to watch. You know it's a good Eurovision entry when you're both laughing and bopping at the same time.

United Kingdom

Song: "What The Hell Just Happened?" by Remember Monday The UK's entry, "What The Hell Just Happened?" by Remember Monday, was a pop-rock anthem with tight harmonies. It was energetic and the girls gave a really strong vocal performance. It had a catchy chorus and felt like a modern pop song, which is always good to see from the UK.

Spain

Song: "ESA DIVA" by Melody Spain brought the fire with Melody's "ESA DIVA." This was a full-on diva anthem with a strong Latin influence, super sassy and with incredible stage presence from Melody. The choreography was sharp, and it was a burst of pure energy. Loved the confidence!

Germany

Song: "Baller" by Abor & Tynna Germany's "Baller" by Abor & Tynna was a total curveball. It was a high-energy, almost aggressive pop track that really went for it. The staging was intense and the vocals were super powerful. It definitely made an impact, whether you loved it or were slightly overwhelmed!

Italy

Song: "Volevo Essere Un Duro" by Lucio Corsi Italy, always bringing something unique, gave us "Volevo Essere Un Duro" by Lucio Corsi. This was a bit more artistic and quirky, with a retro vibe that felt very Italian. It was charming and distinctive, a nice change of pace from some of the more generic pop entries.

Overall, Eurovision 2025 was a wild ride! From the unexpected winners to the iconic outfits and the slightly off-key notes (it happens), it was a feast for the senses. While some of my faves didn't quite make it to the top of the scoreboard, the night was still a total slay. Can't wait for next year!
